Ragara Somerit is an extremely wealthy Water-aspected Dragonblooded, controlling significant merchant shipping on the Inner Sea trade routes between the Threshold and the Blessed Isle. In addition to bulk cargoes of agricultural goods, wood, and Bear Bile, Somerit is also engaged in the shipping of Jade and Scavenged artifice. He is known to have extensive connections within the bureaucracy of the Realm, particularly the Azure Department for the Smooth and Harmonious Transport of Materials and the Contract Courts of the Thousand Scales.

Among those engaged in shipping, Somerit has a predatory reputation: in an industry where a sunken vessel or a cargo spoiled by a customs delay at port spells doom, the Ragara is often present with a loan that might save his ostensible competitor... in exchange for a controlling stake in their affairs.

Somerit is currently wed to the Patrician Kosol Korupsha, the latest in a series of mayfly marriages. Previous unions have produced several children, including Ragara Lief.

Somerit's ships were instrumental in carrying the remnants of House Tepet's Legions back to the Blessed Isle in the wake of the War with the Bull.
