The official Legion history of the War with the Bull, currently being written under direction of Cathak Garel with a team of historians including Cathak Yagu and Cathak Nyal. Given the devastation wrought on the Legions during that campaign, there is particular pressure from the Scarlet Dynasty and Thousand Scales to arrive at conclusions as to exactly what was lost and who was at fault, but the work has been repeatedly delayed, both due to the scale of losses in witnesses and records, and due to the refusal of House Tepet or its Legions to cooperate with the work: the Tepets assert that a consequence of the Legion Control Act is that commissions to the Garels for such histories must now come from the Great House controlling a Legion, and no such commission has been issued. House Cathak, and the Garels particularly energetically, assert that official histories are not commissioned at all but rather automatically initiated at the end of a campaign. Despite both sides searching the records of the Thousand Scales for legal support, nothing has been found, the act of preparing official histories seemingly arisen from convention not the letter of law. Under different circumstances the Scarlet Empress would surely clarify the matter, but the Imperial Regent has so far declined to intercede.
