Cathak Meata Yagu is a fire-aspected Dynast of House Cathak, the son of Cathak Meata by Sesus Ketek, younger brother of Cathak Iyari and elder brother of Cathak Okubo. He currently serves as Resident Historian of the Library of All Heroic Deeds in the Citadel of Purifying Flame. He attended primary school at the Academy for Cultivation of Youthful Talents (class of RY736)

Highly acclaimed in the Scarlet Empire's historian's circles, Yagu did not follow the path of less capable scholarship into which his father Ketek stumbled, instead trained by Cathak Garel herself in taking a disciplined fact-based approach to history.

Selected Works

Yagu has authored several texts, including numerous official histories of Legion battles and campaigns. These include:

A Brief Summation of pre-Imperial failures in Tactical Manoeuvres against the Fae: A work begun by his father and completed by Yagu, concerning the end of the Shogunate Era and the Balorian Crusade. While critics hold it is excessively long and filled with irrelevant information, most are willing to forgive Yagu for not aggressively cutting his late father's collection of useless information in order to make a more useful text.

The Heroic Stand of General Ctaru: Based on the official Legion history of the Battle of Coiled Dragons, in this work Yagu simplified the account to shear out irrelevancies and render it more useful to a general audience. It is well-acclaimed, seeing regular use in the history lessons taught at the Academy for Cultivation of Youthful Talents.

Imperial Record of the Campaign against the Icewalker Anathema: The official Legion history of the War with the Bull, currently being written under direction of Cathak Garel with a team of accomplished historians including Yagu.
