The House of Tranquil Repose is a towering manse in the city of Lord's Crossing. The thin spire rises high, though not quite as tall as the larger Castle of Flying Cranes nearby. Its structure is of Glass and First Age materials, a series of stairways and mezzanines ascending its hollow interior to allow access to the balconies and high-ceilinged chambers lining its outer walls. Gentle breezes flow freely throughout the manse, while tall windows welcome the light of the Unconquered Sun and splendid vistas of the city and lands beyond.

The House is not a fortification, the advantages of its commanding views undercut by its fragility and lack of shelter for those who might position themselves within it. Its name is fitting, for it is indeed a tranquil place, and over the years House Tepet has often put it to use hosting artists or as guesthouse for the emissaries of the Thousand Scales or Scarlet Dynasty. Over the centuries the Immaculate Order has several times hinted the manse might be a fitting place for founding of a Temple, but the Tepet elders showed no sign of considering such a donation.

More recently, it has found a military use despite its indefensible structure: under its current master Tepet Deramol, for the last century the House has served as a military hospital of sorts, hosting officers in need of rest to recouperate bloodied bodies and troubled minds. The War with the Bull produced many in need of its services, but the aftermath has meant pressure from the House that guests not tarry long in recuperation before returning to their duties.

The House of Tranquil Repose is considered the 'ancestral seat' of the Deramol Branch.
