Council of Taimyo

The 'Council of Taimyo' is a term for the ruling council of Great House Tepet, though it is not officially so-named. Comparable to the Council of Elders in House Ragara, it has been shaped by agreement among the children of Imperial Consort Tepet, who head the House's major branch families. Their leadership predates the death of their father, whose concerns were more focused at Court than the organisation of a Dynastic House.

The Taimyo traditionally meet in the Chamber of Five Winds, a council chamber within the central keep of the Castle of Flying Cranes in Lord's Crossing.

Current Members

Tepet Marek. Long considered 'first among equals' in House leadership, the devastation of the House's military power in the War With the Bull has weakened this position, along with that of his brother Vergus.

Tepet Vergus

Tepet Berel. Though all Tepet branches suffered losses to the Bull, Berel's significant wealth rises neither from military power nor from trade in the Threshold, but from sources safe in the Tepet heartlands of Lord's Crossing Dominion. This made many consider her second in power to Marek in times past... the change in the House's fortunes has surely reversed their positions.

Tepet Nerigus

Former Members

Tepet Tilis (deceased)

Prospective Members

Tepet Tilis Chora. Currently the Tilis Branch lacks representation in House leadership, and the strategoi of the 9th Imperial Legion is seen by many as the most likely candidate should the other taimyo wish to refill their ranks.

Tepet Deramol. Their good breeding and commercial connections have seen the Deramol Branch acknowledged within the House, but their head has never been accepted among Tepet's ruling elders. Some had mused the ascent of the Branch was tied to desire by Berel and Nerigus to even the power in the Council between military and mercantile branches, and With the military families weakened some wonder if a planned slow ascent will now be made rapid.
