Cathak Tadako Caiji is an Earth-aspected Dynast serving in the 1st Imperial Legion out of the Citadel of Purifying Flame. She is currently ranked Talonlord, commanding the heavy infantry of the 1st Dragon 2nd Wing 2nd Talon garrisoned in the main gate of the Citadel. When the 1st served as Imperial Garrison her tasks included patrol and security along Gojo and Nishi Boulevards in coordination with the Guardians of the Realm.

She attended the House of Bells, and though her fang struggled to overcome the martial prowess of Tepet Sorae and the tactical genius of Tepet Shogo in the fang ahead of her own she struck up mutual respect and then lasting friendship with one of their number, Sesus Septimus. When they faced each other directly, theirs was a more even match than between the fangs entire, Caiji perhaps with a slight edge in tactics and Septimus one in bladework, though Shogo would often advise his fangmate that "her view is always straightforward, and thus readily predictable".

Caiji is the daughter of Cathak Tadako, a senator in the House Cathak caucus of the Deliberative Senate. Her mother's connections assured her ascent to the 1st Legion following graduation from the Bells. While most Dynasts who graduate that esteemed academy favour weapons of artifice and see their Bellswords as ceremonial accessories for attending galas, Caiji is notable for wielding it as a training and duty weapon... the resulting wear has required replacement of the blade several times.
