Geography

Pangu is a sprawling coastal prefecture, bordered to the south by the Imperial River and to the East by the Inner Sea. It is the southern end of the region known as the Xianyu Coast, known for warm summers and a picturesque dusting of snow in the winter.

Though very close to the heart of civilization that is the Scarlet Prefecture, Pangu is predominantly rural. It takes large amounts of salt from the sea for the preservation of meat, and as with other Xianyu prefectures there is the local fascination with pirates. Few outsiders know more than this about Pangu prefecture.

Pangu City: Largest urban area in the prefecture, Pangu City is a major port and center of the salt industry. Vast factories and warehouses process meat, grains, and salt itself, shipped out by cargo vessel from the docks to all corners of Creation where the Legions serve. Pangu City is defended by a detachment of the 3rd Imperial Legion manning the Bastion of the Five-Point-Star, and a detachment of the 6th Imperial Legion manning the Green Lantern Lighthouse. There is little Dynastic presence in the city: a smattering of House Cynis and Ragara interests are peppered about, with most holdings in the hands of patricians or House Nellens.

House of High Waves: Large water-aspected manse and dock complex controlled by House Cynis.

Palace of Trees: The Palace of Trees is a massive wood-aspected manse complex, the headquarters of House Cynis and home to its most extravagant festivities. The Palace is surrounded by a settlement built up to service the needs of the Dynastic residents there.

Konjin: Konjin is a port town near the House of High Waves, notable as one of only six ports on the Blessed Isle where the Guild is allowed to land cargos. The local population is small, serving primarily as dockworkers to move slaves and medicines between Guild vessels and House Cynis warehouses. A detachment of troops from the 3rd Imperial Legion, backed by cavalry archers from of the Cynis House Guard, secure the town.

Blind Love: Small, unimportant village of fishermen and farmers, notable only for being located close to the best areas for viewing Scarlet Cranes.

Economy

Pangu’s monopoly on supplying food to the Imperial Legions means this prefecture has produced enormous amounts of food over many generations. Sadly, the local coasts have been overfished and coastal towns do little more than service salt refineries for the preservation of slaughtered livestock from the plains. Pangu produces one harvest of rice every season, and large amounts of wheat for production of salted biscuits and hard bread that will keep over long journeys.

House Cynis has the largest Dynastic presence in Pangu, but even they control little outside of the Palace of Trees and its environs. Outside of the drug plantations in those areas, the primary Cynis presence is slaves to provide labour for larger patrician holdings during harvest times. Pangu is also home to the vast pens for the training of new slaves before they are sold or transferred to troupes around the Isle.
