The 6th Imperial Legion was amongst the second wave of Legions founded by order of the Scarlet Empress in the years following RY40. They first saw action in the second invasion of the Scavenger Lands in RY75, and acquitted themselves spectacularly, brushing aside resistance and along with the 9th Imperial Legion surrounding and besieging Lookshy itself. In RY76, as victory seemed on the horizon, Lookshyan forces employed a terrible weapon which caused the instant death of nearly the entirety of the 6th and 9th Legions. Straggler and patrol units managed to limp back to the coast, much of their equipment left behind in Lookshy hands. The 6th did not participate directly in the final invasion attempt in RY88, unable to muster sufficient equipment to take the field, but in later years it became a major Realm force for operations in the Northern Threshold. The 6th's combat record has been good, if not spectacular, and there have been several difficult campaigns including one major mauling whose consequences were a contributing factor to the massive Ragara Widow's Uprising of RY591. When not on campaign, the 6th has traditionally been based out of the northern Blessed Isle.

When House Ragara assumed sponsorship of the 6th Legion, the mining tycoon Ragara Raman was appointed strategoi. As Raman had no military experience, a number of officers within the Legion raised objections, but a purge of the highest ranking of these and their replacement with Raman's allies was quickly carried out. The 6th currently provides garrison and patrol in the western Scarlet Prefecture and eastern Juche prefecture along the Earth Dragon Road.
