The Villa of the Papyri is a large Dynastic estate, a quarter-mile in length, located in the [[Scarlet Prefecture]] on the banks of the [[Imperial River]] as it opens into the [[Imperial Bay]]. The long structure stretches along the coast, surrounded in its entirety by a pillared arcade, within which can be found an extensive garden with a grand decorative pool, leading west to east where the main terraced villa is located, containing quarters for family, guests, and slaves, and an inner private garden with a decorative pool of coals. The arcade continues westward to encircle what was once a private vineyard, cut down and replaced with a poppy garden following the grant of the [[Imperial Monopoly]] on [[Wine]] to [[House V’neef]]. | The Villa of the Papyri is a large Dynastic estate, a quarter-mile in length, located in the [[Scarlet Prefecture]] on the banks of the [[Imperial River]] as it opens into the [[Imperial Bay]]. The most notable building of the estate, however, is its library. The villa’s master, senator Peleps Sasayaka, has spent his long career in the Deliberative assembling a vast collection of documents concerning the work of the Deliberative. However, while the official records kept by the Deliberative itself and the Keepers of Records and Notable Events are thorough in containing records of the bills, debates, and votes which pass through Greater and Lesser Chambers, the Papyri Library is far different: rather than simply record the events as they unfolded, Sasayaka has arranged his collection so that each law is accompanied not by tallies or Scales-sourced statistics but by books of poetry, works of art, even diaries from the personal records of Senators and pages, each such text pertaining to the thoughts and passions of those who drafted and debated the bill in question. This archive has surely been costly and difficult to acquire, but serves as a valued resource to many Senators seeking to understand Deliberative history and that of its members, a lucrative source of favours for Senator Sasayaka.
