Peleps Taxin is an elder male Water-aspected member of the House Peleps Deliberative caucus, and husband of fellow Senator Peleps Febaris. They have birthed an extensive brood of children over the centuries, and those who have survived have achieved positions of prominence in several organs of the Realm including the Thousand Scales] and the Imperial Navy, amongst these Peleps Oshoga (head of the Incorruptible Observers of Geomantic Harmony), Peleps Csaard (Imperial Magistrate), Peleps Ota (Deliberative Senator), Peleps Ierana (Deliberative Senator, now deceased), Peleps Lundaer (archinavarchos, Imperial Navy Fire Fleet), and the former Peleps scion V’neef Ririon (archinavarchos, Imperial Merchant Navy).

While the Peleps caucus does not have a chair, nor House Peleps official leaders, the household of Febaris and Taxin is considered the most powerful and influential of the Peleps familiies, and its leaders firmly embrace the principle which governs the House generally, that of aggressive competition… those who try and succeed reap the rewards, those who fail or do not try are devoured. Taxin is known particularly for his view that rules only apply to those who lose, and the Senator is a master of backstabbing and betrayal… a title proven deserved by the fact he continues to be able to pull of such coups even when this reputation is well known.

When it comes to his son Ririon, who turned back on his household and House to join with House V’neef, Taxin differs from his wife and many others in House Peleps in the harshness of his reaction… indeed, some have observed signs of pride in his treacherous offspring. However, as Ririon has explained to the councils of Qishi, this will not be a source of favours nor an opening for rapprochement: his father will expect the archinavarchos and his adoptive family to fight tooth and nail to prove they have the strength to prove Ririon’s betrayal the correct choice.

In addition to an extensive web of family ties and a correspondence of ideals, the pre-eminence of the Febaris-Taxin household is aided by the fact that the couple are themselves experienced and canny legislators, able to navigate the waters of the Greater Chamber, securing support for many initiatives and trading favours whose benefits ripple out to be seen by many Peleps scions. Nevertheless, there are many ambitious eyes on watch for weakness as the couple grows older, and Taxin well knows that a history of betrayals will return upon him a hundredfold should he himself ever succumb to weakness.
