Geography

Seven Waves is an island of the open seas in the Western Threshold, northeast of Pinapha and south of the Forest Bank. It is home to a population of fisherfolk and an Immaculate temple dedicated to Danaa’d, the Temple of the Clothed Distance.

Temple of Clothed Distance

The Temple was founded in the days of the Shogunate, by those tracing the route of Danaa’d as described in The Pinapha Texts (in which the island receives mention), though today the monks of the Temple are more orthodox in their view of Immacluate scripture than those of the Temple of the Rolling Surf, one of few divergences their preaching of the superiority of women in the cycle of reincarnation, souls born as women being more enlightened than those born as men... and even this view is held by some theologians at the Palace Sublime, who point to passages which seem to imply such in the Immaculate Texts, even in the absence of overt statements on the subject by the Immaculate Dragons.

The Temple has long served as a stopover and muster point for Wyld Hunt expeditions headed for the waters of the Far West.

Population

The people of Seven Waves are, under the influence of the monks who teach and protect them, of an Immaculate and matriarchal bent. Their lives are largely simple, fishing local waters, weaving nets, and caring for their small fishing vessels. The most frequent vessels to pass through are those carrying Immaculate monks on pilgrimage. Trade ships make rare stops to sell metal tools and minor luxuries... Seven Waves has few products appealing to traders. Dried fish and fresh water are, however, eagerly sought by ship crews sailing the open seas surrounding it, and what foreign goods present on the island that do not come from the monks come through such barter.

Gods

The presence of Immaculate monks, and the frequent visits of the Wyld Hunt, have kept the local spirits in line. However, in recent years the Hunt’s operations have grown more infrequent, the most powerful Dragonblooded of the Order have been more concerned with the Blessed Isle than a distant island of the Threshold.

Unsinkable Edobard

Unsinkable Edobard is the god of Seven Waves. He enjoyed direct rule of his island before the coming of the Immaculate Order, and the lessening of their power in these chaotic times have filled him with dreams of regaining his lost power. He remains outwardly obeisant, but lays plans for the time he can confront the Immaculates and end their interference with his purview.

A handful of local men, discontented with their lot and the matriarchal bent of their society, have quietly revived Edobard’s cult.

Black Crystal

Black Crystal is the Salt God responsible for the region including Seven Waves. Like Unsinkable Edobard, he too has been dutiful to the Immaculate Order due to their presence here, and he too plots for a time when he might be free of their interference, so he might claim the prayers of islanders and passing sailors in exchange for the Salt that preserves their fish. Crystal and Edobard have forged a quiet alliance, the two spirits confident that they need only a final weapon or enough mortal cultists to overcome the Temple’s monks.
