The 18th Imperial Legion has long served as a garrison force along the southwestern coast of the Blessed Isle. When House Ledaal took control of the Legion, strategoi Saloy Hin of the 17th Imperial Legion convinced a number of troops and officers in the 18th to join him in rebellion, escaping with a moderate chunk of the Legion's assets. House Ledaal replaced many officers with loyalists, and missing essence cannons with obsidian butterflies from the hands of its sorcerers, deploying the 18th and the 16th Imperial Legion to bring Hin to heel.
The House chose not to replace Cathak Ashokar as Strategoi of the 18th, likely for political reasons, though Ashokar is known to harbour hatred for Hin equal than that of any Ledaal.
Discipline in the 18th was always harsh, and has only become more so in the wake of the 17th's treason.
