The 16th Imperial Legion has long served as a garrison force along the southern coast of the Blessed Isle. When House Ledaal took control of the Legion, strategoi Saloy Hin of the 17th Imperial Legion convinced a number of troops and officers in the 16th to join him in rebellion, escaping with a large chunk of the Legion's assets. House Ledaal replaced many officers with loyalists, and missing essence cannons with obsidian butterflies from the hands of its sorcerers, deploying the 16th and the 18th Imperial Legion to bring Hin to heel. Ledaal Baravei, formerly strategoi of the 15th Imperial Legion in An-Teng, was appointed to command of the 16th.
