Nestor: Clear Water (Iselsi Shubin).

Location: Southwestern end of Suzaku Boulevard, Imperial City.

Alternate Names: West Guardian Temple

Description: A massive temple and monastery complex, once sponsored by House Iselsi, it has slowly fallen from grace since the doom of that House, overshadowed by its onetime twin Toji Temple. In RY764, the central pagoda of the temple was damaged by fire, leaving only two storeys where once there had been six.

Reconstruction has been slow due to lack of funds and an absence of Dynastic patronage. Within the walled enclosure are shrines to each of the Immaculate Dragons, anointment chambers and clergy cells, schools and libraries, though even these are beginning to look somewhat dilapidated.

This temple serves as a base for Immaculate monks working as itinerants and maintaining the shrines and religious needs of populations within the Imperial City's Western districts. Amongst their other duties, such monks spend much time preparing donated foodstuffs for those who cannot feed themselves. One of the largest benefactors of these efforts is Nellens Spolumbo, who provides the Temple with all of the badly spoiled meats cast off from his Warehouse of Succulent Chops, and most other donors provide a similar quality of food. Though the monks of the temple apply the purifying flames as taught by the Immaculate Dragon Hesiesh in the Immaculate Texts, incidence of sickness for eating such rotted foods can rise high... but Ginger-peel tea is also provided and to both Immaculates and the poor themselves the risks of food poisoning are dismissed next to the horrors of starvation.

The soup kitchens of Saiji Temple refuse no one, and some bit-pinching Dynasts have been known to exploit the Temple's generosity by commanding their workers and household servants to feed themselves from charity, not from their employer's coffers.
