Verdant Rivers Prefecture

Geography

Verdant Rivers Prefecture is located on the northern coast of the Blessed Isle, straddling the regions known as the Pahua Basin and the White Coast. Its interior is the fertile northern end of the Pahua river basin, its coast home to the fine white sands of the White Coast, though riddled with the rocks that become more numerous travelling westward into the rough shores of Chanos.

To the West, Verdant Rivers is bordered by Chanos Prefecture, to the South by Qishi Prefecture, and to the East by Gleaming Sands Prefecture.

Economy

Verdant Rivers is home to agriculture inland and fishing on the shore, the beaches not fine enough to attract the resorts seen further East. Agriculture tends towards luxury crops rather than staples, including wine and chrysanthemums. A major source of wealth comes from serving as the port through which goods are shipped out of the Pahua Basin.

House V’neef’s prime position in nearby Qishi has led the House to work on expanding their influence in Verdant Rivers as well.

Law and Defence

Verdant Rivers is defended by elements of the 1st Marine Guard and the 14th Imperial Legion. Jurisdictional disputes have been reslved in recent years through cash transfers from House V’neef to House Ragara.

Layout

Greenharbour – Harbour town and prefectural capital at the mouth of the Pahua River.

Pillar of Lustrous Brume - Lighthouse manse and headquarters of the 1st Marine Guard.

Bright Tide – Located near the prefecture’s eastern border, along the sandy coast, Bright Tide is a coastal fishing town, small and quiet. It is home to a small Immaculate temple, the Sanctified Hall of Five Glories. The seals who take to the shore in the area have been transformed under investment from House V’neef to support a local industry producing display pelts and coats from the beautiful white pelts of seal pups. Locals spend the winter months clubbing pups and skinning them for their pelts to meet demand from high society in cities such as the Imperial City and Lord’s Crossing.

Unsworth Vineyards - Winery in the interior of Verdant Rivers, producing excited, bubbly wines. Formerly held by the Sarash patrician clan before the founding of House V'neef.
