Rinmei

Rinmei is god of military texts, from books on training to collections of military proverbs to treatises on tactics and strategy, serving as Captain of the Outer Office in the Division of Battles, within the Bureau of Destiny.

Rinmei has long been a fixture in the entourage of Mars, as while the god is not amongst Heaven’s greatest warriors her grasp of her purview is impeccable, and she is always ready to present the Maiden of Battles with an edifying proverb or quotation as Mars and her staff plan out their campaigns. This role has gained her the trust of Mars, and is likely why she was appointed to command the Outer Office. In leanings, Rinmei’s sympathies are known to lie with the Bronze Faction, and frowns at the re-emergence of the Solar Exalted, unsurprising given how the military training systems of the Golden Age had been moving rapidly away from her purview towards non-textual approaches.

During the Shogunate Era, Rinmei successfully lobbied that a new form of dramatic literature emerging amongst the Dragonblooded, the Shogunate Romance Novel, belonged within her purview as it was informed by military themes and the martial spirit of its times.

In appearance, Rinmei takes the form of a slight woman, clad in military uniform and of disciplined bearing, thick spectacles balanced upon her nose. She is always carrying at least one military text and at least one novel, in the present era most commonly the Thousand Correct Actions of the Upright Soldier and Drums on Golden Mountain, though she needs not consult them to quote from them perfectly… something which she does with great frequency.
