Pinnacle Rock

Pinnacle Rock is a rounded spire of rock which juts straight upward from the ocean depths... its surface bears marks which might once have been carvings but have long since worn away beneath the assault of wind and waves. Lacking significant area or deep crevasses in which seabirds or plant life might settle, the barren rock provides little of use to passing mariners.

The Pinnacle Rock is distant from other islands, though it marks the borders of the rich whaling grounds to its east... whalers and other sailors often refuse to sail westward past the Rock, for that way the ocean grows deeper and one encounters the Forsaken Isle and occasional raiders from beyond Creation.
