Ledaal Ishida is a Senator of House Ledaal’s Deliberative caucus. A graduate of the Spiral Academy, Ishida has a long record of service in the Thousand Scales, his skill as a bureaucrat considered excellent, with the Scarlet Empress himself having praised him for his work and honoured him by raising him to the Senate. He is also known to have done some work in matters of artifice, having recovered or devised a number of scales and weights capable of the precision demanded for sorcerous undertakings… his designs continue to be produced under his patent by the Ishida Workshop of Immaculate Precision. Ishida has not remarried since the death of his previous wife, a mortal of the Qar Patrician Clan. He is the father of Ledaal Kes, a Gateway champion and vice-minister in the Imperial Treasury.

On the floor, Ishida is well known for his belief in the superiority of bureaucrats to soldiers, and has opposed the issuing of honours and triumphal parades to celebrate the personal glory of returning officers… something which has not made him many friends amongst the former Legionnaires in the Senate. Despite this personal animosity, Ishida’s votes show him to be a firm militarist, backing the deployment of maximum force to crush resistance against the Realm from the states of the Threshold. He is generally considered a loyalist of the Scarlet Empress, and while he accepted the appointment of an Imperial Regent has opposed any debate over succession to the Scarlet Throne.

Ishida has also long lobbied for the grant of an Imperial Monopoly in production of officially-accredited measuring devices to the Workshop which bears his name. While such lobbying would be more likely to bear fruit in the current climate of the empty Throne, the support for the proposal once issued by the Ministry of Measures has been withdrawn since the Waris Patrician Clan supplanted the Qar clan’s control of the Ministry.
