Jade Legion

The Jade Legion is well known but poorly understood within the Realm, a small but elite military force answerable directly to the Scarlet Empress and the master of the Imperial Treasury within the Thousand Scales.

The Jade Legion is made up not of mortal soldiers but of one thousand Mountain Folk warriors, whose service forms part of the tribute paid by the Folk to the Realm. These warriors, existing completely seperate from the society of the Realm and cut off from luxury or diversion, are considered largely incorruptible... even without such ethical fortitude, the warriors are changed regularly every few years, preventing any within the Realm from interacting with them long-term.

The Jade Legion is divided into a number of detatchments, which provide security for the vaults and mints of the Treasury and escort for Treasury jade caravans. Each detatchment is placed under command of a Dragonblooded officer, selected for loyalty to the Throne, to maintain accordance with the Perfected hierarchy.
