Golden Lake Prefecture

Golden Lake Prefecture is a small administrative division of the Realm, located in the central-eastern Blessed Isle, just South of the Earth Dragon Road. It is bordered to north by the Road (and thus Juche Prefecture), to the east by the Scarlet Prefecture, and to the west by Shentara Prefecture.

The prefecture is named for the Golden Lake, a body of water named for the gold dust prospectors are able to pan from its banks. The prefecture produces high quality glutinous rice, and some declare that flecks of gold make their way into the grains from the water that feeds them.

The capital of the prefecture, sharing its name, is home to Thousand Scales offices and mercantile enterprises of use to farmers and gold panners. It is located on the southern bank of the lake, with ferry barges carrying passengers and goods across to the northern bank, which is administratively part of Juche Prefecture, where they can continue along the Earth Dragon Road. Occupying a point with beautiful views on the northern shore is the Golden Lake Teahouse, an inn for Dynastic and patrician travellers.
