Front of Pure Cold is an ancient artifact whose true origins have been lost to the historians of the present day. It is known that it was wielded in the battles of the early Shogunate Era, changing hands through the centuries to the Great Contagion and then onward. It is currently held in the panoply of Ledaal Black Dawn.

In appearance, the Front is a large circular blade, wide enough for its wielder to pass through it, the outer blade of Orichalcum the body plated in White Jade whose surface is traced with ancient runes in Blue Jade which render it cold to the touch… though not so intense as to harm those it strikes, over time this chill can wear at its bearer, which some artificers view as rooted in a flaw in its design, others as natural consequence of its unusual potency.

In close combat it is wielded as a slicing blade, able to strike and parry but requiring great skill and acrobatics to use. The Front can also be thrown as a potent chakram, and in either case it strikes Creatures of Darkness with particularly incredible force.

Few remember it now, but the Front’s origins lie in the far past, when it was forged for a champion of the Solar Exalted, to lead the purge which wiped the Primordial-worshipping Alaun from the face of Creation. When the last of that avian race was cut down, the blade was blackened with a strange, feathered patina that refused to come clean, leading artificers to plate it in white and blue jade to cover over its flaws. The strange chill given off by the weapon began as a consequence of this concealment.
