Dolphin Harbour

Dolphin Harbour is an island of the Western oceans, south of Redspar, southeast of Azure Coast, and west of Wavecrest. A tributary of the Realm (under care of the Satrap of Wavecrest), Dolphin Harbour has been largely quiet for centuries, its economy like most islands based on fisheries, though rare amongst its peers it is also home to metal ores, and a population large enough to support craftsfolk who can work them into tools and weapons. Dolphin Harbour was named for the deepwater harbor that serves as its capital, itself named for the Dolphins who once swam there… today, after centuries of eager hunting, few dolphins remain in the waters around the island.

In recent years, Dolphin Harbour had been preparing for expansion, to secure the resources of neighbouring isles for its own use. Its first target was its smallest neighbor, Redspar, which fell quickly and whose population produced salt fish and yams which were expropriated by the conquerors. Unfortunately for Dolphin Harbour, as their rule was consolidated they were confronted by the rise of a Forsaken Anathema, who slaughtered all of their troops, and destroyed two fleets sent to restore control, a serious loss of both soldiers and ships from which Dolphin Harbour’s imperial ambitions will take decades to recover. The island was forced on the defensive, calling for the aid of the Scarlet Empire, which eventually emerged in the form of an Imperial Navy expedition and Wyld Hunt.

While the Anathema was crushed, the islands which had come under its sway had suffered in the conflict. To ease administration and maintain order, the Satrap of Wavecrest declared that Dolphin Harbour would annex its neighbours Redspar and Azure Coast while the monks of the Immaculate Order worked to bring their populations back towards enlightenment, realizing the island’s original imperial ambitions.
