The Balorian Crusade is the term for the invasion of Creation following the mass deaths visited by the Great Contagion. The forces of the Fae embarked upon an assault cloaked in religious tones and symbolism, led by the Raksha Balor, which destroyed the forces of the Dragonblooded Shogunate and seemed poised to end Creation itself until stopped by the Scarlet Empress wielding the powers of the Imperial Manse.

The Balorian Crusade is considered the end phase of the Great Contagion, for its defeat marked the end not only of the threat but of the plague which gives the era its name. Many academics, and nearly all amongst the common folk of Creation, do not draw a clear distinction between the two.
