The Castle of the Phoenix in Flight is a towering, thick-walled fortress marking the western edge of Lord's Crossing Dominion, overlooking the Eagle Highway as it winds its way west towards Eagle's Launch. The surrounding terrain is low and relatively flat, filled with terraced Rice paddies, granting the Castle a commanding position against any attempts to move forces through the area. The Castle contains essence lights which glow from its firing slits, visible for miles around at night.

The Castle of the Phoenix in Flight is the ancestral seat of the Tilis branch of House Tepet. Since the disaster in the North, its halls have fallen silent, with far fewer Dynasts in residence, though an understrength garrison from the 9th Imperial Legion has been deployed within.
