The arboar is a species of wild Boar native to the woodlands of the East. The hooves of these boar are curved, and their tusks arc not upwards but downwards in hooks, and these tools allow the arboar to do what other pigs cannot: climb trees. This they do, in search of nuts and berries, showing particular love for acorns and chestnuts, though in the Coniferous forests of the northeast the population is maintained on a diet heavy in the Pine Mushrooms which grow in the shelter of larger branches as they meet the trunks of the great Redwoods.

In Eastern communities, arboar are often hunted for meat, and also to push them away from settlements, where they are considered a dangerous pest: they are known to climb into houses in search of scraps and refuse, entering through attics or (in the case of Halta’s arboreal cities) even main entrances.

Like most boar, the arboar is fierce and territorial when threatened. Though not the largest boar, it is heavily muscled, and even experienced boar hunters can face challenges: the hooking motions of foot and head pose significant risk of catching and disarming a hunter attempting to pin the beasts with a Boar Spear, snapping its shaft easily and allowing the arboar to reach and gut its assailant without mercy.
