The Tale of the First Sorcerer is a passage of the Immaculate Texts, which is considered by many to be a shortened account or summary of the White Treatise, a book widely considered to have been authored by the Immaculate Mela but not included in the canon Texts.

Before the great war against the Anathema, the Immaculate incarnate Mela sought a weapon to throw down the dark overlords of the world. She set out upon a great journey to the five Poles of Creation, in hopes that there she might uncover some secret insight.

First, Great Mela journeyed to the Elemental Pole of Wood. It was a hard journey, but the Immaculate of Air proved her humility as she strove onward in search of the power that would save the world, without thought for her own aggrandizement. At last she arrived at a pool, in a glade surrounded by standing stones. There, the Elemental Dragon of Wood could be heard in the rustle of the leaves, seen in the twinkling of the stars, and he gave unto her a scarlet mantle embroidered in liquid Orichalcum, which spelled out ten thousand wonders unknown to mortals. This gift granted, he bade her continue on her way.

Honoured Mela strode onward, now seeking the element with which she had most affinity. In the deeps of the North, she found a place of magic, a circle of crystals. The winds whispered with the voice of the Elemental Dragon of Air, and his scales glistened in the falling snow, as he spoke to her of mysteries destined for the ears of Chosen. Nine days she sat transfixed, and in the end she was granted a wondrous girdle, crafted of crimson silk, with runes of Diamond and Moonsilver set into its nine panels, symbolizing each day spent learning the Shaping Art.

Mighty Mela left then, bound West upon a boat of Ebony and Orichalcum. The vessel carried her far across the seas, visiting many isles and adventures, until she saw before her a sword, just out of reach beneath the water. The Elemental Dragon of Water could be heard amidst the crash of the waves, seen in the spray which filed the air, as she posed to her five riddles to which she knew the answers, for sights on her journey had given her this knowledge. Mela claimed the sword as her own, and continued on her journey.

Dauntless Mela then journeyed to the Blessed Isle, and she felt her resolve shaken, for her destination was the Elemental Pole of Earth, and between lay the great Hell-City which sought to pull down that towering spire, cursed charnel house of the Anathema. Knowing that she could not falter, Mela continued onward, through the streets of that foul place and over the rocks of the Imperial Mountain, until at last she stood amidst a circle of stones at the summit. There, amidst the rumbling of falling stones could be heard the Elemental Dragon of Earth, and one stone he gifted to Mela’s brow, a shining bindi brighter than even the curse-marks of the Anathema. With this light gleaming from her forehead, Mela descended the Mountain and sent the Anathema and their demonic henchmen fleeing before her.

Th steps of Glorious Mela took her at last to the South, across the Inner Sea, where she journeyed until she found herself in a circle of stones within a raging sandstorm, with pieces of brilliant crimson Amber embedded in the Cinnabar stones. At the circle’s centre lay an egg of crystal. The scales of the Fire Dragon shone in the sand, his roar echoed in the howling winds, as he bade her approach to receive great gifts. Mela saw herself reflected it, clad in mantle and girdle, the shining jewel upon her brow, wielding the Sword of Water, and then it cracked. A great bird of flame rose up, every color known to Creation in its wings, and flew into the sky. In its wake sprouted the first rainbow in Creation.

No object did Perfected Mela receive amidst the Stones of Cinnabar. Instead, she understood at last her place and duty within the Perfected Hierarchy. Her own transcendent and eternal self took that final step into enlightenment, and she became the Dragon of Air incarnate, the Immaculate Mela, the First Sorcerer.
