Auring is a conservative figure in the Senate, calling for reductions in the Thousand Scales, particularly costly ministries such as the Ministry of Renewal and those within the Honorable and Humble Caretakers of the Common Folk, and pushing for the loosening of central controls over the policies of individual prefectures.
Senator Auring has also has proposed that the Realm directly annex several islands in the West (typically those held by Houses other than Peleps), rather than allowing them to exist as satrapies or independent states. This has made him unpopular with many Western emissaries, particularly those of Gens Anatae.
