The Honorable and Humble Caretakers of the Common Folk, occasionally known colloquially as the Home Office, are one of the largest ministries of the Thousand Scales. Every prefect and every municipal governor, along with their staff, is a member of the Caretakers. They are responsible for the well-being of the Blessed Isle and its residents, ensuring that they are able to contribute labour to the projects and taxes to the coffers of the Realm.

The Caretakers maintain a great deal of the infrastructure of the Isle through their various prefectural and municipal subdivisions, including roads and sewers and granaries. Head: Chief Caretaker of the Blessed People, a position currently empty. Its former occupant, Sesus Sereda, was assassinated in RY764, and no one else has managed to secure the permissions necessary to replace her. Subsidiary Offices: Devoted Wellspring of Municipal Beneficence, Eternally Vigilant Wardens of Detritus, Imperial Census, Guardians of the Realm, Determined Brigades Firm against Blazing Conflagration, Benevolent Stewards of Health and Utility, all Prefectural Offices, all non-Dominion Municipal Offices.
