Mountains are imposing geographic features where the essence of Earth rises to meet the essence of Air, often taking shape over or under particularly potent Dragon Lines. Often difficult to traverse, they form natural walled borders between provinces and kingdoms, but their terrain is usually rich in geomantic energies: Earth and Fire within, Air at their peaks, Water coursing down their slopes. Though Wood might be least prevalent of the five elements, it too can often be found, concentrating in the valleys between the slopes. This richness in Essence also leads to an abundance of more mundane treasures: gemstones and precious metals are more commonly found in mountainous regions, leading mortals to eke out existence in their difficult terrain.
