Plum Brandy

Plum brandy is an alcoholic beverage made from unripened Plums, most popular on the Blessed Isle. It has a distinctive sweet-sour flavour and is considered to have a gentle disposition... even those who dislike alcohol

Plum Brandy is a markedly different dish from Plum Schnapps or Rakia Liqueur (a Western spirit) which have a far thicker texture and sweeter flavour, which some gourmands criticize in comparison with plum brandy for lacking complexity and refinement.

Typically, it is not consumed at mealtimes or social occasions. Rather, plum brandy is the drink served in private studies while two Dynasts engage in more personal political maneuvers (though this of course does not preclude the presence of Dynastic Dim Sum). A drink of plum brandy is often shared by the parents and children of the Scarlet Dynasty (particularly House Sesus, House Mnemon, and House Nellens) when the latter are departing for primary school at the age of 9, a tradition marking the bond of family and, perhaps, the child's first step on the road to the seriousness and complexities of adulthood.
