Ministry of Renewal

The Ministry of Renewal is a department of the Thousand Scales, founded in RY754. At the time, the Scarlet Empress had decided that certain areas of the Blessed Isle had fallen from the productive heights they ought occupy, and the Ministry of Renewal was tasked with organizing the revitalization of such regions.

The first region they were tasked to save, a project still far from completion, was the southern Daoshin Peninsula, which suffered infertile soils and impoverished peasants. The Ministry engaged in a massive program of relocation for the populace, moving tens of thousands of peasants from their farming villages to work chopping and processing lumber on the forested Island of Eternal Leaves. The shift has not been easy, but tax revenues were finally beginning to pour in when the Empress vanished in RY764. Following that, the Ministry's budget has been drastically cut, putting a halt to efforts to revitalize the soil of the Daoshin region.
