Cynis Falen Obarai is an elder Senator of the House Cynis caucus, and the eldest living son of Cynis Falen. Many consider Obarai to be obsessed with titles and honours, seniority and pomp... he is imperious within his caucus (acting as its Chair though no such post is officially acknowledged), and well known for his opulent processions and gala costumes.

Senator Obarai's interests are generally in favour of increased freedom for the Great Houses, devolving Thousand Scales powers to the Scarlet Dynasty, as well as bolstering the Cynis-controlled slave industry and opposing the expansion of The Guild on the Blessed Isle. His focus on image and ceremony leaves small room for drafting effective legislation, and he has little patience for debate, often simply refusing to acknowledge those voicing opposition. This does little to convince his opponents as to the rightness of his causes, but serves well as a provocation to brawling… and Obarai's fists stand ever-ready to reply.
