Omphalic Glass is a type of glass created using sand gathered from the lakes sitting on the slopes of the Imperial Mountain. Though not so durable as Adamant, it was a resilient material, and while the artificers of the Golden Age preferred the sand left on the beachfronts of their mountain chalets the Usurpation brought about great change. During the Shogunate Era, this glass was widely exported across Creation for use in Magitech Crafting, in particular being used for creating tubes to store Liquid Gemstone in the Plug Circuits with which the Dragonblooded had been forced to replace the Perpetual Restoration Engines of many magitech vehicles and powered armours. In the wake of the Great Contagion, the Scarlet Empire continued to produce Omphalic Glass for maintaining its artifacts, and quantities of it continue to be exported (while stockpiles continue to be unearthed by the Threshold’s Scavenger Lords). The hostilities between the Realm and Lookshy caused the latter power grave difficulties in supplying its thaumaturge-technicians with the Omphalic Glass they required, and when their own stockpiles ran dry in RY403 the Seventh Legion converted to using less-hardy Quartz Vials for the bulk of their magitech maintenance.

Geomantically, in addition to being suffused with the essence of the Pole of Earth, Omphalic Glass is known to contain traces of stabilizing stones and metals such as Iron, Lead, and Marble.
