The Isle
The Isle is a horror play from Dynastic playwright Cynis Bei.
Plot
The Isle is set during the time of the Anathema, and tells the tale of two mortals who must fight and escape from being boiled down into condiments. The scenes are quick and tense as they must fight, outrun, and hide from the Anathema, and deal with those who have been hypnotized to serve them by their evil magic.
The play's events and dialogue present the horrors of the five Anathema types and the hell that was life under their rule. The characters also pray to the Elemental Dragons for aid, and the play ends with a disembodied voice announcing that the world will be set right.
Reception
The play's religious theme was controversial, the nestor of Saiji Temple in the Imperial City condemned a play about Anathema, while that of nearby Toji Temple praised it and had her temple sponsor subsequent performances.
