Ragara Banoba is an Earth-aspected Dynast, son of Prince Ragara and (unknown to most) half-sibling of Ragara Bhagwei.

Tall and powerfully built by the standards of the Scarlet Dynasty, Banoba has stooped with age but wstill cuts a solid figure, maintaining long beard and moustaches woven with gemstones. His movements and his speech are slow, which has caused many a Dynast to underestimate him, inevitably to their detriment.

Banoba is Ragara's eldest living legitimate son, and took control of the House following his father's retirement. Unlike the oft-discussed conflict between his father and grandmother over succession, there was never any doubt around Banoba's position: He was named official heir centuries before taking control, and made not attempt to usurp his parent before or afterwards. Even now, when some whisper that prince Ragara's retirement is a secretive plot, Banoba is direct: if his father seeks to head the House again, he will step aside until required to ascend once more. Like his father, Banoba excercises leadership of the House through the Council of Elders, a group of powerful and influential Ragara who gather in the family wing of the Imperial Palace to analyze and resolve the problems and opportunities which come before the House.

Banoba is currently wed to the middle-aged mortal Patrician Kana Yingjiao, the latest in a long line of Mayfly Marriages which have secured significant wealth and connections for House Ragara. The one who shares his bed, however, is his much-favoured lover and cousin Ragara Heral, whom he grooms to one day inherit the mantle of leadership in the House. Their relationship is an open secret among House Ragara's elders, some of whom harbour concerns that Heral's more venturous attitudes shift Banoba's otherwise solid perspective.
