Ledaal Maratin Maratin (born RY575) is a Senator of the House Ledaal caucus in the Deliberative, and son of longtime Ledaal Senator Ledaal Maratin the Elder, to whose seat in the Deliberative he was appointed to on his father’s death. Despite nearing his second century, many of the eldest Senators continue to refer to him as ‘Maratin the Younger’, sometimes rather insultingly during debate. Maratin is known to have significant interests in Inner Sea shipping, particularly for the lucrative routes between the ports of Arjuf and Vatamu... many whisper (and some shout loudly on the floor) that his connections in the Thousand Scales & Navy, and some of the legislation he has lobbied into place, have amply padded his profits.

On the floor, Maratin has long been known as an ally of Thousand Scales minister Bal Keraz, under whom Maratin worked while serving in the Imperial Treasury. He was one of the key voices coordinating the Deliberative with the Treasury and Auditors as they reduced and reshaped the Scales during negotiations around the Legion Control Act. Though he is thought to share his father’s ambition to gain the Master’s stole, in the tumultuous political climate of the present day he does not seem likely to muster sufficient support.

The loss of most other Ledaal merchant ships in the desertion of Saloy Hin has further expanded his influence over the House in the sphere of shipping. The profit he has gained from this event caused heated exchanges between Maratin and fellow Ledaal Senator Ledaal Martia, resulting in a vow that Maratin’s ships will “freely see any force seeking to cow the traitor Hin and his band of brigands to its rightful destination”.
