Gradig is God of Powder Metallurgy, within the Council of Metalwork which was amongst those gods from the Bureau of Humanity tempted to join the Bureau of Heaven during its ascendancy, swayed easily by the argument that the working of metal had been done by other beings including the loathed Primordials long before Humanity ever arose, and was thus properly a universal abstract matter. The fact all five had begun direct meddling in Creation and needed some security against auditing was naturally not a matter brought up in conversation.

Gradig used the confusion in the aftermath of the Great Contagion to try and expand his limited portfolio and accumulate direct sources of worship. He identified a site where powdered precious metals and iron could be mined and sifted, and made deals with the gods Dreaming Lotus and Rejak of the local tribe and river respectively to obtain the labour force and raw materials needed to implement his form of metalworking on a large scale. The three became direct rulers of the theocracy of Bloody River.

Gradig has embraced the return of the Solar Exalted, or at least the Bull of the North, attempting to provide weapons and armour to the Dawn caste's armies using powder metallurgy... the art is not best suited for the task, but Gradig is determined to work his worshippers to death if he must in order to ensure he makes the quotas and secures the dominance of his portfolio.
