White Mussels are a type of large freshwater shellfish, native to the mountain lakes and rivers of the Blessed Isle. They are relatively uncommon throughout their range, save for a few lakes where they can be found in abundance (such as those of [[White Mussel Prefecture]]). 


White Mussels have yellow-green shells, whose interior is a thick iridescent layer surrounding snow-white flesh. They are valued for the high quality of pearls they produce, and the Mother-of-Pearl that can be harvested from their shells. Like many freshwater molluscs, their meat is tough and rubbery without proper preparation, but knowledgeable cooks seek them out for preparation in [[Dynastic Dim Sum]] dishes such as '''Sunrise on the Mountain Lake'''.
