Lapdogs are a type of small dog bred as pets and fashion accessories. While some (such as the [[Terrier]]) touch on the world of working dogs, for the most part the dogs are toys for amusement rather than for hunting, food, or labour. Their name is literal: dogs small enough to fit on a lap, and whose purpose is to do so. 


For the past several decades, the most highly regarded lapdog in Creation has been the beautiful (and expensive) [[Portee Lapdog]], much sought but rarely seen outside the laps of the [[Scarlet Dynasty]].
