Tree Swallows are small, quick birds with streamlined, slender bodies, slightly forked tails, and long pointed wings. Tree swallows have iridescent green upperparts and white underparts, with males more green-blue in colouration and females more green. They are relatives of the Swallow and the Martins.

Tree Swallows are birds of the Eastern Threshold, found across the River Province and into the Eastern forests. They are primarily insectivores, using their high maneuverability to catch insects on the wing, though they will also indulge in fruit. When breeding, pairs nest in hollows and tree cavities near water (where insects are most plentiful). When not breeding, tree swallows are very social, gathering in massive flocks containing tens of thousands of birds.
