Thousand-Color Fungus gains its name from the concentric bands of colour on its surface, varying through shades of green, blue, orange, white, and brown. They are found growing in large numbers on dead tree stumps.

Thousand-Color Fungus is used by peasants to create dyes in basic, brown-tinted colours for use dyeing hemp and wool. It is also used medically to fight infection, though it is tough and difficult to consume, requiring a tea be steeped from it instead.
