Tambora

Tambora of the Thousand Faces is the Satrap of the East, head of the Administration of Eastern Civilization in the Bureau of Humanity. Tambora’s purview, covering a concentration of mortal commerce and settlement including some of the greatest cities in Creation, is second only to that of Jagalza, Satrap of The Realm, but Tambora’s temperament is far different. Whimsical by nature, the Satrap of the East flits between interests and affections, sometimes to the new and sometimes returning, never seeming to stay on any one thing for long.

While she will occasionally involve herself in divine politics, embracing a dalliance or enacting a scheme, her mercurial nature means few of her peers consider her a threat in the long term. Indeed, much of her paperwork, and the day-to-day interactions from which political alliances are born, are given over to her powerful lieutenants: Ivy Hatra serves as Plenipotentiary of the East, granted a freer hand than his peers in other Administrations in overseeing the gods of the Eastern woodland and jungle settlements, while the work needed for the populous cities of the Scavenger Lands is born by Ventressi-Merdo, Prefect of the River Province. The two scheme against each other (particularly over in which region the cities on the borders ought properly lie), but with far less acrimony than that seen in the Division of Serenity, and both certainly harbor ambitions on Tambora’s position. And yet, the Satrap of the East still holds her post, despite her apparent inattention...

Tambora takes the appearance of a dark, slender woman, her garments and panoply changing as often as her moods. She dwells in a wondrous palace of worked stone, living wood and rainbow Adamant, whose shifting decor and entertainments make the parties hosted there a highlight of Yu Shan’s social calendar, even if the hostess herself is unpredictable in both her behavior and the names selected for her guest lists.
