Author: Vapor Ascendant from the Copper Vessel

Description: This rare text, found within the archives of the Heptagram and in the hands of a few magitechnicians within the Realm, is said to date from times long past, exploring the relation of properly-calibrated vibrations to dream and memory. Savants are near-universally skeptical of the theory, and consider it to likely originate with the Anathema in times long past, a trap to trick artificers into destroying or reshaping their own thoughts to evil ends.

Content: The text applies a theory based on vibrations to the matter of the mind, particularly dreams. The theory presented posits that vibrations carry with them minor, natural fluctuations, and if they are properly calibrated they can pass those fluctuations on to a ‘highly structured interference system’ (which, though never explicitly stated in the text, seems to be Vapor Ascendant’s term for the mind), causing patterns to be shifted and minor changes to cascade through the system. In the case of a sapient system, the author theorizes, such changes will cause new and innovative ideas to emerge, which can inspire new theories and practical work.

Vapor Ascendant admits that, in the case of personal testing, not all ideas so created are of use, some being gibberish, though this is stated to be a matter of the prototype requiring recalibration. A final warning is offered, that the vibrations required to have impact on the firm and brilliant Exalted mind are too strong for mortal test subjects, amongst whom nausea and loss of short- & long-term memory was common.
