Sesus Chenow Volkanicus is a Scalelord serving in the 4th Imperial Legion, commanding the 4th Dragon 1st Wing 1st Talon 3rd Scale.

Volkanicus is a bulky, towering fellow, whose Godblooded nature is immediately apparent from his ash-grey skin and smoldering red hair. While peasants and ignorant Thresholders might mistake him for an Aspect of Hesiesh, it does little to fool Immaculate clergy or the scions of the Scarlet Dynasty.

Volkanicus is in fact the result of a dalliance between a child of Sesus Chenow and a Volcano God of the far Western Threshold. The god had dared erupt, destroying the Dynast’s vacation estate, and enraged the Dynast had hunted the god, forcing it to acknowledge its subservience by issuing a child on pain of death.

Volkanicus was taken back to the Realm, legitimacy of the issue acknowledged, though life was not easy: a mortal, and one marked so obviously by heresy in his very blood, had little hope of advancement. His Chenow parent delighted at torturing the boy at every opportunity, smashing down any resistance with brutality.

At length, when Volkanicus had graduated from primary school, he was taken by his Dynastic parent back to the island of his conception. There, the Chenow once again set upon the Volcano God, beating it brutally and forcing it to watch as its son was ordered to set about murdering every member of its priesthood, every islander who had ever prayed to it. The god begged its child to show mercy, offered him power and favour and love, the Chenow struck Volkanicus for a moment of hesitation and laughed as the slaughter proceeded anew, over days and weeks.

At last, when the final worshipper had fallen to Volkanicus’ maul, as the death brought the island from its bond with Creation to the godlessness of the Underworld, the Chenow bound the god into a Yasal Crystal and cast it into the cooling lava of the dying volcano, where it would be entrapped forevermore.

Revenge complete, the Chenow had no more use for Volkanicus, having him immediately commissioned into the 4th Legion and sent to the East and then promptly forgetting about him. The Godblood does not express anger directly over this state of affairs, but his explosive temper and thin patience are well known to his fellow Legionnaires. Nevertheless, though his subordinate troops often suffer bruising and burns, he is a capable combatant, leading from the front with maul and shield to bash the enemies of the Realm into submission. If an objective must be taken, his superiors readily assign him the task… though if one hopes for slaves or prisoners… or surviving peasants... it is best to keep him in reserve.

Since the Legion returned to the Imperial Garrison, some in the Immaculate Order have voiced complaints to strategoi Sesus Dochao about such a flagrant heresy being permitted to walk the streets on patrol in Imperial uniform, but so far the general has refused to consider them. It is thought that the Order and the Chenow branch await the inevitable moment Volkanicus’ temper gets the better of him, to have an excuse for forcing his transfer off the Blessed Isle to the Red Piss Legion.
