Sea Silk

Sea Silk is a rare textile, produced from threads which build up on the shells of clams that dwell in shallow sun-lit waters in the furthest West of Creation, where it is said Sol Invictus descends below the horizon. So far towards the Pole of Water, the seas run black and deep, and the currents of the Wyld flow to and fro, with few calm shallows for such shellfish to dwell in the Sun’s warm light.

Carefully gathered by expert divers, the threads are treated with acids and spices, woven to produce a fine brown-coloured cloth, so light one can barely detect its touch upon one’s skin. This might be marvelous enough, but Sea Silk displays its true beauty only when lit by the light of the Incarnae: under the yellow rays of Sol, it gleams golden, sparkling like the finest Orichalcum, while under the gaze of Luna it shimmers silver, touched with glimmers of colour where the House of a Maiden is resplendent in the starry sky.

Sea Silk is a rare and magical material, employed as an Exotic Component in clothing artifacts and those which seek to evoke the powers of the Celestial Incarnae. Some speak that it is of this substance that the Primordials wove the skies of Heaven, and the Solar priests of the Zenith Caste oft sought it for their vestments.
