The Phalanx Fig is a plant native to the deserts of the Southern Threshold, consisting of several flat paddle-like leaves from which small red and pink flowers emerge, transforming into red-green fruit. Both the paddle leaves and the fruit are covered in sharp spines to deter those who seek to eat them.

Phalanx Fig fruit is eaten by many peoples of the South, who have a variety of preparations, removing the spines and eating it raw, mashing it to make jellies, or juicing and fermenting it for alcoholic beverages. In herbal Medicine, the Phalanx Fig is useful to lessen the worst symptoms which follow excessive consumption of alcohol.

Palisade Wrens will sometimes nest in Phalanx Figs, though the plants are typically to low and thin to be favoured.
