The Orchard Mushroom is a large type of fungus found in the deep jungles of the Southeastern Threshold. They are large mushrooms, pale ivory-grey in colour with smooth caps, standing chest-height on a human. The flesh of the mushroom itself is not edible, tough and bitter even if cooked, but its name comes from its spores, which do not grow under its cap but rather sprout from the upper surface of the cap. The spores are contained in long purple-coloured fruit, divided into five segments of equal size each containing one spore.

The spore-fruit of Orchard Mushrooms are popular with a number of forest creatures, including humans and wood doves. They are said to have a flavour reminiscent of figs, and can be used to produce jams and a form of sweet fruit liqueur.
