Mystical Symbol

The concept of the Mystical Symbol is important to the practice of Sorcery, providing language and syntax for recording and communicating spellcraft according to systems set down by the Solar Exalted sorcerer Silur. These symbols were key in allowing sorcerers of different Schools of Sorcery to share spells, the greatest example being the grand collection found within the Book of Three Circles.

The symbols themselves are not a language as such, and their nature means they cannot be used for everyday conversation, nor are they useful for conveying codes and double-meanings. While their importance is generally accepted by sorcerers, those of the Silurian School hold that the symbols themselves lie at the root of sorcery, the means through which a sorcerer imposes their will upon reality.

True Names exist within the logography of mystic symbols.
