Metropolitan Molarity Maximization Method
The Metropolitan Molarity Maximization Method was a technique employed by the artificers and geomancers of the Golden Age, whose theories have survived to some extent through the Shogunate Era to the present day.
Typically for great works, particularly grand manses such as Manufactory Cathedrals, a source of divine power was required, the structure dedicated to a god and offering worship, the spirit returning blessings upon the structure and its work. The early Factory Cathedrals were all dedicated to the most powerful Celestial Gods (while few would dare impose on the Celestial Incarnae, the heads of Bureaus and directional War Gods were the ones most commonly turned to), but these relationships could sometimes be difficult: a greedy or petulant god might threaten to withdraw their patronage, halting production and forcing a costly, time-consuming redesign to dedicate to a different god unless their demands were met.
To many, particularly the proud Solar Exalted, this state of affairs became increasingly intolerable, but the power of more controllable gods was too little to serve as replacements… except for the case of the City Gods, whose nature amplified and channeled the theological energies of their cities. And yet, despite this, the power of the Solars over Creation’s metropoli was immense, meaning Oppidans could be held more easily under the thumb of Creation’s rulers. The Metropolitan Molarity Maximization Method was the series of theological arrangements and motonic equations to produce factory-cathedrals and other potent facilities bound to the local city god.
The Method was widely discussed at the time, leaving fragments of texts behind which are occasionally recovered. Several factory-cathedrals and urban defense artifacts constructed using the Method were preserved through the Shogunate Era, but nearly all were lost during the Great Contagion.
One survivor was the Aviary of Deheleshen. The Seventh Legion had come into possession of a rare complete text from the Golden Age, Theory and Applications of the Metropolitan Method in Manufactory Management, which was used to train their geomancers and plan out the city of Lookshy. The original text remains closely guarded by the Legion, though excerpts are copied and used in the training of Lookshy’s sorcerer-priests and sorcerer-technicians.
