Kelpmane

Kelpmanes are a rare type of horse, strange and distinctive. They are the godblooded offspring of Eckushkya water elementals and humans. They are black, with sea-green manes and tails, standing about 15 hands in height. They are not the fastest of horses, nor the strongest, and their natures are irritable, but Kelpmanes possess a supernatural gift: they are unable to drown, breathing water as if it were air.

This power does not mean they can gallop the ocean floor, but it is of great aid to the creatures for swimming or making river crossings. This makes them useful for naval landing parties deploying form off-shore, or as steeds for Water Aspected Dragonblooded who wish to ride through rather than around their sympathetic element when confronted by a river or channel.

Breeders and equestrians seeking Kelpmanes can sometimes find them running wild or in the stables of those seduced by the Eckushkya, but most often must employ sorcery or bargaining to secure their services as studs. Horses with one or more Kelpmanes as parents tend to darker coats and are stronger swimmers than many of their peers, but are not themselves Kelpmanes.
